The deal between us.

Pair Cafe (often just “Pair”) is a small, two-person todo app. Use it to share things with one other person you actually want to do them with. Don’t use it to do anything illegal or harmful. You own what you put in; we’ll do our best to keep the lights on, but we can’t promise perfection.

The full terms are below. By creating an account or signing in through a supported Pair Cafe app, you agree to them.

These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you (the person using Pair Cafe) and Thesis Labs, LLC, a California limited liability company (“Thesis Labs,” “Pair Cafe,” “Pair,” “we,” or “us”), the operator of the Pair Cafe iOS and Android applications and the informational website at pair.cafe. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

Pair Cafe is a private, two-person shared todo and bucket-list service provided through our supported iOS and Android apps. A single account belongs to one person; an account can be paired with exactly one partner through an invitation opened in a supported app, and the resulting couple is the unit that owns todos, completion notes, Cloud Media, and reactions.

pair.cafe is a marketing, store-download, support, and legal-information website. It does not offer browser account creation, sign-in, partner linking, or access to shared content. A narrowly scoped browser page may be used to finish a one-time password recovery requested from a supported app.

Pair Cafe is intentionally not a social network. There are no feeds, followers, recommendations, or ads. We may add or remove features from time to time as we improve the Service.

• You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your jurisdiction for online services, whichever is higher.
• You're responsible for protecting your password and keeping access to the email address used for password recovery. Do not share recovery links or active sessions.
• You're responsible for everything that happens in your account, including content your partner adds while connected to you.
• You may have only one Pair account. If you want to start a fresh couple with a new partner, leave the existing one first.
• Create accounts and sign in only through the supported iOS or Android app. Pair Cafe does not provide browser login or signup.

By using Pair you agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything illegal, fraudulent, abusive, or designed to harass another person.
• Upload content that is illegal where you live, infringes someone else's rights, or that you don't have permission to share — including photos of people who haven't consented to be uploaded.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to access the Service in any way other than through the official apps, intended website pages, and documented public endpoints.
• Try to break, overload, or test the security of Pair without first contacting us.
• Impersonate another person, or invite someone you have no consensual relationship with.
• Misuse reporting, blocking, or support tools to harass someone or submit knowingly false reports.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules — see Termination below.

You can report a connected partner or their content from the native apps. Blocking archives the relationship for both people and prevents those accounts from pairing again while the block remains. We may review reports and related content, restrict access, or preserve limited safety records as described in the Privacy Policy.

You and your partner own the todos, notes, photos, videos, and reactions you put into Pair (“Your Content”). We don’t claim any ownership of it.

To run the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, resize, normalize, inspect, encode, transcode, create playback versions of, and back up Your Content for the sole purpose of providing Pair to you and your partner. This includes processing Cloud Media videos through the video provider disclosed in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups already made in the ordinary course of operations, which are deleted on a rolling basis.

You’re responsible for the legality of what you upload. Pair will respond to valid takedown requests where applicable law requires.

Pair uses a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) only for the bounded categorization and recap features described here:

• Categorization — a todo's title and free-text notes may be sent so the app can suggest one or two category labels. Whenever a completed item that has attached media is categorized — including automatically when you log a memory with photos or edit a completed item, not only when you tap refresh — up to four of its completion photos or short clips may also be sent so the suggestion can use visual context. Categorizations are suggestions; you can change them at any time.
• Recaps — when a monthly or on-request recap is generated, up to sixteen size-reduced completion photos may be sent for content tagging, along with todo titles, category counts, and short excerpts of completion notes. Pair caches the bounded structured result (content and quality flags, a people count, and a short caption) per photo so re-generating does not re-analyze, and clears it when the photo, todo, or couple is deleted. Suggested-recap ideas are computed from your existing completion dates and saved places with no AI call. Cloud Media is off by default: only an item explicitly marked 'Consider for Our Month' may enter a deterministic shortlist, and at most four normalized previews or video posters per recap may be sent for bounded structured analysis. Pair does not send the Cloud Media original, video bytes, comments, tags, filename, time, location, or OCR text. Hearts and comments can influence ranking but never grant consent. Turning the control off prevents new analysis and removes Pair's cached structured result; a provider request already running cannot be recalled.

Pair does not send your name or email address for either feature, and your data is never used to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of what each feature transmits.

Pair Cafe is free to download and use. Some features are offered as Pair Cafe Plus or Pair Cafe Premium, through a one-time purchase or an automatically renewing subscription made through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. The exact price is always shown by the store before you confirm a purchase, and may vary by country and change over time.

• One purchase covers your couple. When either partner unlocks a plan, its included features cover the shared space for both of you for as long as that purchase remains valid.
• We may grant named beta testers or a specific couple promotional Premium. A promotion code is single-use, time-limited for redemption, non-transferable, and works only for its intended account or couple. Promotional access has no cash value and may be withdrawn if issued in error, transferred, resold, abused, or used to evade these Terms.
• Cloud Media is a recurring Premium feature and is not included in the one-time Plus Forever purchase. Premium currently includes a 100 GB (100,000,000,000 byte) accounted-media allowance. We enforce that limit for the active couple and, for a verified store subscriber, across Cloud Media funded by that subscriber in the current couple and any former-couple export window until deletion finishes. Re-pairing does not reset or multiply the allowance. Photos count their processed file size. Videos count the greater of their uploaded size or a duration-based 10 Mbps equivalent, so an all-video library holds up to about 1,333 minutes (22 hours). Generated previews and playback versions do not reduce the displayed allowance.
• A separate cost-abuse limit counts new originals, completion-photo previews, Cloud Media preview/poster budgets, and duration-weighted video processing during each UTC calendar month. Exact request retries are counted once, but deleting a file does not refund work already transferred or processed that month. The current ceilings are 250 GB per uploader and 300 GB per couple or verified payer scope. These are safety ceilings, not additional storage: they do not raise the 100 GB retained-media allowance or create a 250 GB plan.
• Cloud Media is privacy-normalized rather than an exact-original archive. Photos are processed into high-quality JPEGs. Videos are encoded for adaptive playback, and the downloadable MP4 may differ from the exact file selected from your camera library.
• Cloud Media remains available while Premium is active and during billing-recovery grace reported by Apple or Google. When that ends, uploads stop and the library becomes read-only, playable, downloadable, and deletable for 90 days. We provide reasonable notice during that export window when contact channels are available, then schedule the media and playback versions for deletion. Renewing during the window restores normal access.
• A completion-photo upload that cannot be finalized may be permanently removed during immediate rollback or after a one-hour cleanup grace period. Either current partner may explicitly confirm deletion of a shared calendar-memory photo or todo and its recorded attachments. Deletion removes Pair's provider copies; any copy someone already saved to a phone remains on that phone.
• While a couple is active, either partner may delete shared Cloud Media sooner. Leaving, blocking, or otherwise archiving a couple ends shared access and new media authorization immediately. For the next 30 days, each former member may list, export, and delete only the media that person uploaded; Pair does not reveal the former partner's media, usage, or continued presence in that view. Re-pairing does not extend the deadline. After 30 days, all remaining Supabase and Cloudflare media for that archived couple enters irreversible purge. A download capability issued just before archival may remain usable for about 10 minutes plus a short cache margin, and an issued video playback capability for about 40 minutes; new capabilities stop immediately. Account deletion revokes access immediately and schedules the affected media for deletion. 'Forever' refers only to the one-time Plus feature unlock; it is not a promise to store cloud files forever.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in your store account before renewal. Payment, billing, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their store terms; we can't issue store refunds ourselves.
• Some things are never paywalled: inviting or joining a partner, safety tools and reporting, account deletion, purchase restore, support, and these legal pages.
• If a purchase can't be verified (for example, Apple or Google reports it expired, refunded, or revoked), the associated unlock may be removed.
• Prices don't include taxes the store may collect on top, depending on your country.

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel or refund anything you bought through Apple or Google — manage purchases in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

If you opt in to native device push, Pair will send notifications about activity on your shared list. You can disable push or any individual category from Settings → Notifications; you can also revoke permission in your operating-system settings. Account-management emails are transactional and you can’t opt out of them while you have an active account.

Pair is built and maintained by a small team. Features may change, launch in a rough state, or go away entirely. When we make changes that materially reduce functionality, we’ll do our best to tell you in advance through the app.

You can stop using Pair at any time:

• Sign out from Settings → Account in the iOS or Android app.
• Leave your couple from Settings → Danger zone. Shared access ends immediately. For 30 days, each former member may export or delete only media that person uploaded; all remaining Cloud Media is then irreversibly purged.
• Delete your account entirely from Settings → Danger zone. Shared profile details and the shared couple are revoked immediately, and the couple's todos, photos, videos, comments, recaps, unfinished completion uploads, and exact provider copies are scheduled for irreversible deletion. While provider cleanup finishes, the signed-in requester can access only a minimal deletion-status screen to resume the confirmed request. This can't be undone, and your partner loses access to that shared content too; copies already saved to either phone remain there.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if your continued use puts other users or the Service at risk, or if we’re required to by law. Where reasonable we’ll contact you first.

Pair is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we don’t warrant that it will preserve every media file or note exactly as you left it (though we obviously try). Back up anything you can’t afford to lose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thesis Labs and its operators won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including loss of data, loss of profits, or emotional distress. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold Pair harmless from any claim or demand made by any third party arising out of content you upload, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of someone else’s rights.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can’t be resolved through a friendly conversation will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms over time. When we make a substantive change, we’ll update the Last updated date and, where the change is material, give you reasonable notice through the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Pair after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

If you use Pair Cafe on an Apple device, these Terms are concluded between you and Thesis Labs only — not with Apple Inc. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in an embargoed country and are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.
